Cameron Brown Park, Germantown, TN Runners making a difference for your child's education. The Shelby County Schools Education Foundation is proud to present the 8th annual "Race for Education." The excitement is set for November 2, 2008 at Cameron Brown Park in Germantown, TN. Join us for a 5K run/1mile Family Fun Walk. The 5k race will begin promptly at 2:00 P.M. followed by the 1 mile Family Fun Walk shortly thereafter. There will be entertainment, fun and prizes for children of all ages, so be sure to get there early. This is a Memphis Runner's Club sanctioned event and medals will be given to the top three runners in each age group as well as overall winners. Mail in or school turn in registration is $15.00 until October 24,2008. (Must be postmarked by 10/24/08.) On line registration is $17.50 (includes $2.50 online vendor processing fee) prior to October 24,2008. After 10/24/08 all registrations are $20.00 due the day of the race. The "Race for Education" was started in 2001 by a group of parents who wanted to help raise much needed funds for programs, such as art music and physical education, that were scheduled to be cut to balance the school's budget. Thanks to the generous donations of our sponsors, nearly every penny from the registration fees, goes directly back to the classroom. In fact, one half of each fee goes to district wide distribution and the other half goes to the Shelby County school that you designate or goes to district-wide distribution. Each school will decide with the help of principals, parents and teachers, how to best spend the funds they receive from the proceeds of the race. The Shelby County Schools Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization.
